How to Disable Personalised Search in Google

Got a client who can’t see the same search rankings as you? Well, it happens to lots of us SEO’s. The easiest way to get around this is to make sure both yourself and the client are using Google with personalised search disabled.

Well, its actually really easy to disable Google personalised. You can do it using of two ways:

1. Add &pws=0 to the end of the URL after you perform the search. Once you perform the search, you’ll have some long URL text in the address bar and you simply need to append the above bold text to the URL. Here’s how mine looks after adding the text. Press Enter and you’ll now get the depersonalised results.

2. The second method is to use the depersonaliser search engine! – It doesn’t look as pretty or sophisticated as telling a client to a pws command, but it sure is easier.

Finding it hard to motivate yourself when freelancing? Well, these handy freelancing tips will be sure to help you out.

Being a good freelance is tough and on a daily basis it requires a variety of actions. The more clients you take on the more you the greater the more organised you must be. Here are some simple tips on how to be the best you can, without losing faith!

Happy Freelancer, from http://ptrv.info

1) Organise yourself! Create a recording database!

Create a plan, sounds simple right? Well, in truth it is, but a plan is one of the most commonly missed steps by a freelancer. Make a plan, search it with your client and stick to iy. Your client will see your organised which can only be a good thing.

2) Take a Step at a Time.

Multitasking spreads ones attention in many different directions often resulting in a lot of time on a lot of tasks. Focusing and completing duties one-step at a time allows more work to be completed and a greater sense of satisfaction at the end of the day.

4) Stay Focused, Always!

Stay focused on the task from the beginning, starting with development, progressing to testing and then implementation. Focus on all aspects individually until project completion.

5) Relax, make time for it.

A freelancer who understands what they can and cannot control is a releaxed one. It easy to let freelancing take over yourlife, but remember, you are human, you need rest and sleep in order to work at your best!

6) Charge A Decent Rate!

Another a common mistake freelancers make. For example, a software developer freelancer may charge a minimimum, so he can attract clients for bespoke software development. Think about it, if you aren’t charging what you think you should, your undercutting yourself, and if your doing that how on earth can you be motivated to work? Charge what you are worth. Simple.

7) Research!

Spend the time to update your skills. It benefits you, your client and your career. Therers hundreds forums, blogs and industry bodies in your niche so use them!

Cashflow – Don’t Get Ripped Off!

The financial management of your business could make or break you. Managing your credit should be an integral part of your every day business. Carry out credit checks on new clients, you might not agree to 30 days free credit if you knew that company’s history.

Do You have Anymore Tips? Comment and let us know.

Back in my freelance day these tips really helped me out. Now, i’m retired from freelance SEO, as I have the pleasure of working as an SEO Specialist for Switched On Media

Facebook overtakes Google in the US and takes the Number 1 spot!

Facebook overtakes Google and became the most visited website in the US for the first time last week finsihing with the most vists to its homepage, according to Hitwise Data.

The “milestone,” as breifed by Hitwise director of research Heather Dougherty, came as Facebook gained a huge 185% increase when compared to the same week in 2009.

So, is this all out war?

Visits to the homepage of Google.com saw only a 9% increase during the same time. However it is important to remember that rhis doesn’t include other Google services like, Maps, Gmail, Youtube or Buzz.

Combined, Facebook and Google held 14% of the total traffic in US last week – A shocking relaity of both of their success!

Buzz, an attachment to Gmail, is Google’s attempt to break into the social media market and compete with the current leaders, twitter and Facebook.

Why Google <del datetime="2010-03-18T12:02:38+00:00">should be</del> is worried!

Google still gets more than twice as many visitors as Facebook, and will do for a long time yet, but how would this change if Facebook and the new additions from team FriendFeed work out how to minipulate user data in real-time?

No single entity has smashed the real-time or social search baby, but if Facebook can do, it will cause a massive disruption to the world of search and Google core business as we know them. SEO’s, and you thought search engine optimisation would die from clever Google algo’s….

SEOmoz recently announced the launch of the second version of Open Site Explorer, which includes some exciting new features. The release of Open Site Explorer came swiftly after the SEOmoz team annouced the retirement from the SEO consulting industry, which no means they spend their full time creating software, tools and widgets that sport the SEO industry as a whole (We can now officialy see them a leader in the industry).

New Features Include:

Top Pages on a Domain

Target URL

Comprehensive CSV Export (Waaahoooooo!)

Usability Enhancements

Improved Filtering

New Feature 1: Top Pages on a Domain

The new version of OSE (Open site explorer) allows the user / marketer to produce a list of the top 10,000 pages on a domain. An amazing new feature which provides a deep analytical insight that was NEVER avaible before… essential for viewing your site and more importantly for providing competitive analysis on numerous sites! Another cool feature is ability to show the header status of a page, indicating wether its 301, 302, 404 or 200 ok! Neat!

Target URL

The new version of Open Site Explorer shows you which URL a given link is targeting when you sort by sub or root domains so you can see exactly where the given link is helping you.

CSV Export!

OSE is now offering more robust CSV exports.

Usability Enhancements

Remember how you used to have to reload the page every time you applied a filter in Yahoo! Site Explorer? With the addition of the Filter Results button, these needless page reloads are a thing of the past.

Yahoo! Vs Link Scape Vs Open Site Explorer

Down to the nitty-gritty, what does it mean for us SEO’s? Well, you now get to export data for upto 10,000, we’re talking “majestic SEO” style now! Below comparison image from SEOmoz
